CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful technique that is effective in releasing neck pain, back pain, and mental stress (among other things). It does this by optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spine and around the skull. Developed by physician William Sutherland, this therapy provides a very soothing and relaxing healing experience. My training through Dr. John Upledger is very detailed and has given me this opportunity to help heal the body and mind with very specific techniques. TMJ is the result of misalignment inside the mouth from missing teeth, braces, and mouth appliances and can result in headaches, teeth grinding, and other chronic dysfunctions. Known as the Healing Power of Gentle Touch, this modality is key for releasing tension and allows your body to relax and self-correct.
Medical Massage Therapy - massage/manual modalities performed with the intent on improving medical conditions. Diagnosed and/or prescribed by a physician.
Medical Massage is the application of a specific treatment targeted to the problem(s) a patient presents with a diagnosis. Treatment is administered after a thorough assessment/evaluation by me. Manual manipulation of soft body tissue to enhance health and wellbeing. Manual therapy techniques consist of massage, joint mobilization and manipulation, manual traction, passive range of motion, soft tissue mobilization.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, LD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.
I use Manual Lymphatic Drainage to also help with Breast Cancer patients who are having lymphedema issues. I am trained in medical massage with a focus on cancer and have been key in bringing relief with scar tissue from radiation, neuropathy from medications and deep relaxation from the stress of treatment.
Myofascial massage is a technique used to treat injuries and discomfort, reducing pain and increasing range of motion. Myofascial massage differs from other types of massage in that it targets the fascia - the membrane surrounding muscles - rather than the muscle itself. Since fascia completely encases every muscle in the body, imbalances in the fascia can have serious effects on your range of motion and comfort level. While other forms of massage can overlook the fascia, myofascial massage focuses specifically on releasing tension in this important membrane.
Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session. The use of myofacial release is also used in conjunction with deep tissue to increase release, no extra charge.
Hot Stone Therapy is a style of massage that uses heated stones to actually perform the massage with. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.
Detox massage is a 30 minute process using a soft bristle brush (that you get to keep) and starting at your feet, your skin is very lightly brushed in order to get your lymphatic system moving, which in turn starts a detoxifying process within your system. You then receive a 60 minute relaxation massage with a detox essential oil blend to further release toxins and flush them out. Probably the most relaxing massage ever !
Chair massage is a popular way of relieving stress and releasing tension right in your home or workplace. You receive your massage in a specialized ergonomic chair which I bring to your location. In addition to the usual health benefits of massage, another benefit of chair massage is that it is done over the clothing. With seated massage, you can avoid the discomfort and awkwardness that you may feel in disrobing for a traditional massage. Also, chair massage sessions are usually shorter than traditional massage, making it convenient enough to fit into your busy schedule.
